TORTUGUERO CANALS TOUR (3 DAYS / 2 NIGHTS)

Remember there is a departure tax of $29.00 per person.

What to bring? This is gonna be a warm place with temperatures ranging between 75°F in San José, and 85°F in Tortuguero, so bring. Swimming suit is necessary, hiking shoes or good snickers and an extra pair of shoes, sandals, suntan lotion, insects repelent (this I recommend just in case), flashlight, a rain coat (it is dry season but who knows what could happen), binoculors, camera and good vibrations to enjoy the beauty of this little peaceful country that we are happy to show you.

Day 1

  • Pick up at major hotels in San José.
  • Stop for Typical Costa Rican breakfast included at Río Danta Restaurant.
  • Departure to Caño Blanco dock in Siquirres.
  • Arrival to Caño Blanco dock and board boats for ride to Tortuguero and Mawamba Lodge.
  • Arrival to Mawamba Lodge and lunch at the restaurant.
  • Enjoy with your guide our local attractions including the butterfly farm, frog farm and garden, aquarium, bio-digestor, and our gardens.
  • Free time to enjoy the pool or relax.

Optional night tour to search the turtle nesting (season July–September)

Day 2

  • Meet for coffee at the entertainment room.
  • Morning boat tour through the Tortuguero Canals.
  • Return for breakfast at the lodge.
  • Departure by boat to Mawamba’s private property next to National Park, where you will enjoy a hiking trip in the trails.
  • Arrival and lunch included at the hotel.
  • Afternoon canal boat tour inside the National Park.
  • Return to lodge for relaxation.
  • Dinner at the lodge.

Day 3

  • Breakfast at the lodge.
  • Meeting at docks for return boat ride to Caño Blanco in Siquirres.
  • Arrival to Caño Blanco. Board bus for return to San José.
  • Arrival time for lunch to Río Danta Restaurant.
  • Return to San José.
  • Drop off at major hotels in San José

NOTES:

  • The order and logistics of the itinerary may be altered depending on weather conditions.
  • Luggage is limited to 25 lb person on all packages.
  • Night tour to search the turtle nesting ($30 USD per person).
  • Entrance fee to Tortuguero National Park ($10 USD per person), donation of $1 USD at Museum, alcoholic beverages, sodas or bottled water are NOT INCLUDED in the price.
